D365 Business Central - Any ListPart with MS Excel (Update Transaction lines)
Microsoft coined interesting new feature in Dynamics 365 Business Central 18.3 that is very helpful for the end users while working on the larger orders where order contains more than thousand lines.
While doing the modification in the Sales Lines it is very difficult for the users to modify the information through web client in case of more than thousand lines. Now finally Microsoft has provided the capability that users can download the ListPart Page details into Excel, make the changes into excel and Publish it to D365 BC.
Many business processes rely on working with data in Microsoft Excel for ad-hoc analysis or simply sharing data with others. While full-page lists allow exporting the data to Excel, users benefit from having similar capabilities no matter how a list is displayed on a page.
In below steps we will discuss how we can export the ListPart Data in Excel and change it and Publish it to D365 BC.
Step 1: Firstly, we need to create the Sales order with number of Sales Lines. In below example I have created the sales order with 8 lines-
Step 2: Now Click on the Pageà Edit in Excel on the ListPart Page –
Step 3: Once you click on that Sales order Lines will be exported to Excel, Open the Excel file -
Step 4: Now do the changes in the excel file and Click on Publish. In this example I have Changed the Unit Price of all the Items to 100 -
Step 5: Once Changes are published, you can see in the excel that the Publish is successful.
Step 6: Now go back to D365 BC web client and Refresh the Sales Order. You can see now that the data has been synchronized with the changed that has been done in the excel-
Lists that are displayed as a part on a page can now be exported to Excel. For example, you can export sales lines from a Sales Order page, list parts on the Role Center, lists in the FactBox pane, or even lists on ListPlus pages such as the Item By Location page. Similar to full-page lists, the Open in Excel action downloads a static copy of your list as an Excel worksheet, complete with any filters and sort order that you have applied.
Note: To use this feature user must have the Microsoft Dynamics Office Add-Ins installed in their respective machine.
