Analytical Accounting Dimensions Order and Default Values

Proceeding with previous article Analytical Accounting Dimension Relations and Validation, there are few important considerations for the AA module in Dynamics GP that are considered of an added value for associated implementations.The previous article illustrated how dimensions values can be restricted by the business requirements, in order to apply the valid business logic.

This article will shed a light on two important aspects, which are: dimensions order and dimension default values. 

Dimensions Order
Multiple dimensions will be filled during the entry according to a predefined order, let's include the same previous example from the previous post, three dimensions which are: Cost Center, Location and Project. 
Dimensions

Suppose that there is a specific logic at filling the dimensions, which implies filling specific dimension before the other as shown below:

In order to configure the required dimension order,Go to (Cards > Financial > Analytical Accounting > Transaction Dimension Order)

The window above controls how dimensions are entered, and the sequence of how codes are filled out at the entry level. Any of the dimension can be controlled to be moved up or down with the arrows on the right edge of the window.

Dimension Default Values:
There are specific cases, at which a default value is required to be filled automatically for a specific dimension which might be changed if required. To configure default values, Go to Cards > Financials> Analytical Accounting > Accounting Class.

In our example, we will suppose than any entry on the location dimension will have a value of "Center" unless stated differently, and then the user can change the default value accordingly. Therefore, we will fill in the "Center" dimension code value under the "Location" dimension as shown below:
