Understanding of Microsoft Preview Features

Question Description

Whenever I search for Microsoft official documentation, I come across certain documentation marked as Preview.

For example the screenshot below:

I would like to know the difference between a "Preview" and a Released version, including what to be aware of when using them.

Answers

Preview features are features that aren't complete but are made available on a "preview" basis so customers can get early access and test the feature.

There are some points that need to be clarified with the Preview features:

  1. The preview features are not supported for production use.
  2. The preview features offer to our customers to test the new feature beforehand. And it eagers to get the customer's feedback on the previous functionality and might provide best effort support in certain cases.
  3. May have limited or restricted functionality.
  4. May be available only in selected geographic areas.

Formal release/official release, On the other hand, is fully documented, is for Production use, and with the clear instructions and limitations documented in the official article.

Report Issues for a Preview feature

How to provide feedback, offer suggestions, or report issues for a Preview feature?

Take Power Automate for example.

Please go to the Power Automate ideas (https://ideas.powerautomate.com/d365community/). This website provides a collaboration platform for gathering actionable feedback to build and improve products and services.

This is the official user voice channel. The more people vote for the idea, the more possibility our product team would take this feature into the roadmap.

The End.
