How to reset a D365 CRM Instance

Overview

There are many reasons why we need to reset an instance, such as below.

  • Free up storage space.
  • Remove an environment containing personal data.
  • Temporary used only, no longer needed.

Notice

  • Reset permanently deletes environment components such as Data, Entity, Flow, Plugin, and backups.
  • You can only reset Sandbox environments.
  • Reset is not allowed on Production instances so that the Production instance won't be reset by mistake.
    • If you need to reset a production instance, you would first need to change the instance type to the sandbox and then you will be able to do the operation.
    • After the reset, you can change the instance type to Production if needed.

To Reset an environment

1, Go to the PPAC(Power Platform Admin Center) and sign in using Environment Admin or System Administrator security role.
