What does 'GS' or 'ME' stand for in an error related message within Microsoft Dynamics GP Payroll?

Terry R Heley Profile Picture Terry R Heley Microsoft Employee

The encrypted error messages we may get from time to time when we are working within Microsoft Dynamics GP are always fun to try and decipher.  We have many, many types of error message in our system, but I wanted to point out a similarity between a few you may see in payroll to help you in the future.

If you are running routines in payroll such as period end reports, like FUTA, SUTA or maybe a quarterly 941 report and you get a pop up error message similar to the ones below

[Microsoft][SQL Server Native Client 10.0][SQL Server] Procedure GSDELETE941REPORT

Unhandled script exception: [Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][SQL Server] Could not find stored procedure 'XXXX.dbo. GSDELETEFUTARANGE'

Unhandled script exception: [Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][SQL Server] Could not find stored procedure 'XXXX.dbo. GSDELETESUTARANGE'

Get/Change operation on table GS941. Totals cannot find table.

Unhandled database exception: [Microsoft][SQL Server Native Client 10.0][SQL Server] object 'GSSAVE941INFO', database 'SIZE', schema 'dbo'.

These types of error message are not related to Microsoft Dynamics GP. If you have a third-party product installed called Greenshades, contact Greenshades Software, Inc. to resolve the issue.

Similar, if you are processing payroll and get an error message like below with relation to 'ME', this indicates MeKorma in the error message and may help you in further troubleshooting the problem.

A save operation on table 'ME_UPR_WORK_Check_Sorted_Sequence' (45).

ME_UPR_WORK_CHECK_SORTED_SEQUENCE has created a duplicate key

I hope some of the above information will help you in the future if you may receive a message similar.
Thanks
Terry Heley
