Microsoft Dynamics 365 Advanced Finds 101: How to Change Column Properties and Sort Your Results

Microsoft Dynamics 365 Advanced Finds 101: How to Change Column Properties and Sort Your Results

Last week, we covered how to edit and remove columns.

This week, we are diving into how to change column properties and…

If you’ve been following along in our “Advanced Find 101” blog series, you know that we are working on the basics of navigating Advanced Finds with ease. For this series, we have set our city as Seattle.

However, there may be some cases where the city is a longer name.

If this is the case, you may want to adjust your Column Property Settings in Advanced Find so that you can see the full name and it doesn’t get cut off.

To do this, select the column you want to edit and then click “Change Properties” under “Common Tasks.”

A pop-up will appear in the middle of your screen.

Here, you can select the width for your column.

For this example, we only need a little bit more space, so we will set it at 125px and click “OK.”

Once you select your width, you will see that the column is slightly larger.

The last thing you may want to do with your View is “Configure Sorting.”

When you click on this, another pop-up will appear in the middle of your screen. Here, you can adjust the “Sort by” and “Then by” fields.

For the purpose of this blog series, sorting by “Account Name” is perfect.

Then, we will sort by “Owner.”

So, it will show you your Account name for all of the specific users in order, then it will go to the next user and show all of their accounts, and so on.

If you don’t want two sorting options, however, you can just leave it with “Account Name.”

Once you’re happy, click “OK” in your first and second pop-ups.

If you’ve been following along in the blog post series, you already have your filters in place, so the last step in the process is to view your Advanced Find results.

To do this, click on the bold exclamation point in the top menu of your screen.

When you do this, you will see all of the accounts are in “Seattle,” and they should be filtered and sorted according to the criteria you’ve set.

Unlike the first post in this series where it showed 107 results, you now have 22 results according to your criteria.

Next week, we will continue our journey with Advanced Finds and explain how to save your View(s).

In the meantime, you can watch the full Advanced Finds tutorial from our experts below.
