Implementing Fastpath’s Config AD: Install Single Sign-On

Ian Grieve Profile Picture Ian Grieve 22,784

In this series of posts I’m going to take a look at the Config AD product from Fastpath which adds single sign-on to the Dynamics GP desktop client; you can find my series index here.

The point of Fastpath’s Config AD is to make life easier by removing the number of usernames and passwords a user needs to be entered to access Dynamics GP. In the previous posts in this series I have associated an exiting AD user with an existing Dynamics GP user and then created a new GP user from an AD one.

For the user to benefit from this integration we need to install some code into Dynamics GP. This is done by installing the Fastpath Single Sign-On. In the FPSSO folder double click the setup.exe. On the security warning click on Run:

Open File - Security Warning

On the welcome page, click on Next to start the installation:

Fastpath Single Sign-On: Welcome to the Fastpath Single Sign-On Setup Wizard

Accept the license agreement and click Next:

Fastpath Single Sign-On: License Agreement

Choose the Microsoft Dynamics GP version and enter the system database name:

Fastpath Single Sign-On: GP System Details

Enter the SQL Server Name; this will include the instance name:

Fastpath Single Sign-On: COnnect to Database

The installation folder should be set to the Microsoft Dynamics GP installation folder:

Fastpath Single Sign-On: Select Installation Folder

Click Next to confirm the installation:

Fastpath Single Sign-On: Confirm Installation

Once the installation is complete a confirmation page will be displayed:

Fastpath Single Sign-On: Installation Complete

Fastpath Single Sign-On works by deploying a Dexterity chunk file (.CNK) to Dynamics GP. Before Single Sign-On can be used this needs to be included into GP as a dictionary. To do this, start Microsoft Dynamics GP by right-clicking the GP shortcut and choosing Run as Administrator. On the Dexterity Runtime question box click Yes to include the new code:

Dexterity Runtime: New code must be included in the :C:Program Files (x86)/Microsoft Dynamics/GP2013/Dynamics.set dictionary. Do you wish ti include new code now?
