Entering expiration dates for lot-tracked items in Purchase Order Processing for Microsoft Dynamics GP 2010

Kelly Dettmann Profile Picture Kelly Dettmann Microsoft Employee

We have had a number of questions on how users can enter expiration dates or other lot attributes since upgrading to Microsoft Dynamics GP 2010.

In GP 2010, with the introduction of the Auto-generation of Lots in Purchase Order Processing feature, the Purchasing Lot Number Entry appeared to have lost it’s functionality of allowing the user to enter Manufacturer and Expiration Dates for manually-entered lot numbers.

However, the functionality is still there- the window just looks a little different. If you need to add lot attributes, the arrow to the right of the ‘Lots to Generate’ field under the ‘Automatic Lot Number Generation’ section does work in GP 2010 for both Manual Lot Number Entry & Automatic Lot Number Generation.

Steps:

1. From Receivings Transaction Entry, open the Purchasing Lot number entry window.

2. Type in a Lot number such as A100 (under the Manual Lot Number Entry section).

3. Click the arrow to the right of Lots to Generate (under the Automatic Lot Number Generation section). Populate the fields and then click OK.

4. Click Insert.
