Microsoft Dynamics GP Transaction Matching, cool feature (and Project tool??)

A follower of my blog recently asked about using Microsoft Dynamics GP Transaction Matching for Project tracking. I immediately said no, that it could not do that. Transaction Matching is meant for linking entries or lines of entries with a commonality, like “Month End Close” and “Audit Entries” or a bunch of messy entries and corrections.

After I told him no, I began thinking “Projects are a group of entries or lines of entry with commonality.” So I set out to see if it would work.

It Does work! It is a manual process to manage the links, and other tools are better. But if you do not own the other tools, this will work!

I did put together a SQL script that allows me to use Excel for really good Analytics (reporting.) Take a look for yourself! And remember, always think outside the box!
