Microsoft Dynamics 365 v9 deprecated Features – Mail Merge

Dear Reader, this is yet another Article on Microsoft Dynamics 365 v9 – Deprecated Features i.e. Announcements are deprecated by Dynamix Academy with the Video explaining the details of Microsoft Dynamics 365 v9 deprecated Features – Mail Merge.

Microsoft is deprecating certain CRM features. Meaning Microsoft will be removing these features completely from future releases of Dynamics 365.

As of now these features will continue to work. By announcing these deprecated features, Microsoft is providing enough notice for all of us to either remove or replace them.

Microsoft Dynamics 365 v9 deprecated Features – Mail Merge | Changes Coming to Dynamics 365 Customer Engagement (CRM V9)

• Mail merge lets you create a batch of documents that are personalized for each recipient. For example, a form letter might be personalized to address each recipient by name. A data source, like a list, spreadsheet, or database, is associated with the document. Placeholders–called merge fields–tell Word where in the document to include information from the data source.
• In Dynamics CRM 2016 (version 8.0), Microsoft introduced server-side document generation using Word and Excel templates. You can use these templates to provide standardized documents or customized data analysis for your organization.
• Mail merge had many limitations and was cumbersome to use. Instead the new Word Templates functionality can be used.
• Mail merge from previous versions is deprecated. This includes the mail-merge Word add-in as well as mail-merge templates
