D365 Security Blog series-Security diagnostics for task recordings
Dear Microsoft BizApps Community,
Welcome to my next blog on security framework series, this article talks about the Security diagnostics for task recordings feature in MSD365 Finance and operations
Feature Details
Security diagnostics for task recordings is a security framework feature, by which we can get to know, to do the task, whether the user/users have required permission or not
Lets explore
First, we need to record the steps in task recorder function, then we need to export the recordings, Example- we will create a vendor and record the same in Task recorder
Once done, stop the recorder and “Save as developer recording”, it will be downloaded in the PC as xml file
Now Navigate to the System admin Module->> Security ->> Security diagnostics for task recordings
The below screen will open, now “Open from this PC” (if you have stored Task recording in LCS, then select “Open from Lifecyle Services”)
Browse the file and import
Once imported, the below form will come, it will show the Menu Item label, Menu Item name and Menu Item type along with missing permissions
The above options will show. What are the required menu item needed to perform the task, which was captured during task recordings
Now, a bonus- if we want to see any user from system, whether they have the required permission to perform the task or not, it will show us
Let see
I have selected an user from the “User ID” field and it shows “Missing Permissions”= YES
That means, user does not have the required permission to perform the task
On flip side- if user has permission, it will show Blank in “Missing permission”, see below one example
That’s it for this blog, stay tuned for my next blog
Happy days
