The “Certified for Microsoft Dynamics” (CfMD) program was designed to recognize partners who brought proven industry solutions to market with code quality in mind. The program was architected around C/SIDE solutions which were typically implemented in on-premises or partner hosted environments. The go-to market model and technology around Dynamics NAV is now rapidly being replaced by Dynamics 365 Business Central and Microsoft AppSource.
Upcoming proven industry solutions will utilize the power of the cloud, those that still have a dependency to run on-premises will still value and incorporate key cloud innovation such as artificial intelligence and machine learning in its core. Knowing that C/SIDE and C/AL is going to be deprecated in approx. 12-24 months, we want partners to focus their resources to prepare for the shift; The shift to AL, cloud and modern biz app solutions.
Taking this into account, we will evaluate the need to develop and release a new recognition program when we mutually shift to AL. Meanwhile, we are happy to share that the CfMD program remains an on-premises recognition program only for Dynamics NAV and Dynamics 365 Business Central on-premises.
Partners will retain all CfMD program benefits until further notice (including fee waivers), but we are changing the Software Solution Test (SST) requirements in the program:
For existing CFMD Solutions:
The current program requirements stipulate you must renew the SST regularly based upon a current Dynamics NAV platform version.
The change that we will be implementing effective immediately; If you are up for renewal towards your SST and previously successfully passed the SST on a NAV 2016, NAV 2017 or NAV 2018 platform and complied with the other CfMD requirements, like listing the proof of customer uptake, then your CfMD certification will carry forward to Business Central on-premises until further notice.
Partners who currently have a solution in the SST process and comply with requirements listed here will be able to abort the SST process after mutual agreement with the tester but still must comply with the agreed terms already agreed with the tester.
For new CFMD solutions:
If you have created a C/AL solution, you can still go through the existing SST with 1ClickFactory or Lionbridge as long as they are on a NAV 2018 or Business Central on-premise platform.
If you have a solution which is designed in AL code and based upon the current version of the Business Central SaaS Service, you can use the AppSource validation test as a substitution of the SST. This avoids the need for you to go through both the AppSource validation and classic SST test.We are confident this program update optimizes your time and resources. The documentation on CfMD is currently being updated, changes will be implemented in the coming days. Don’t hesitate to reach out to your operational center if you have questions on this topic.
Kurt, you mentioned if partner has C/AL for on-prem and AL for SaaS, but what if partner creates AL solution for on-prem? I suppose, in this case CfMD will be necessary or I'm wrong?
Kurt - the info on CfMD site still shows only possibilities for Dynamics NAV 2018 version. There is no Business Central listing. Whom should I enter to to get any news on that topic?
