I create 2 CRM 2015 Online trials yesterday and noticed you cannot drag and drop fields using the form editor if you are in IE. However, if you use Chrome it works fine. I tried this on 3 different computers and had the same issue.
Not sure if this will help you or not.
You need to selected the section that you want the field to be placed in. Then drag and drop the field.
No even if I want to move it 2 rows down on the same section it won't let me in IE. Its not an issue in Chrome. I can move fields in the same section or even to new sections/tabs without any issue.
What version of IE are you using. I'm using IE 11.
Question for you Jonathan:
When you select a field and you are moving it a section, does that section have a red line above it or the field that you're moving it to?
I have exactly the same issue. The red line which shows where you should drop the field does not seem to appear in Internet Explorer and the latest version of Dynamics CRM Online,
JorisP does it work in Chrome for you?
It does indeed work in Google Chrome (Version 42.0.2311.152) but not in Internet Explorer 11 (Version 11.09600.17728),
I have experienced the exact same problem. I cannot drag and drop a field onto the form. As a workaround you can select a field on the form and then double click on a field in the list on the right. This will insert it below the selected field.
I have the same problem in IE 11.
No problems here on IE 11 and new CRM today. Although this is exactly the reason 10's getting a new browser....
I did not get a chance to try this yet but... I just got this from MS.
I would like to inform you that I researched on the issue and I reproduced the issue on my end and even I was not able to drag fields in the Form Editor.
However later I was able to and these are the steps I performed on the IE 11 Browser.
1. Please go to Settings on your IE 11 Browser
2. Go to Compatibility View Settings and Add https://*.dynamics.com and click OK.
3. Then Go to Security in Internet options
4. Click on Trusted Sites and then sites
6. Add https://*.dynamics.com to the trusted sites
7. Then Enabled Display Mixed Content in Internet Security Zone.
8. Enabled Display Mixed Content in Trusted Site Security Zone
9. RESTART IE Browser.
I just tested and this does fix the issue in IE.
This fixed the drag & drop for me - thank you.
However, it appears to have added red boxes around the drop-down fields. Do you have any suggestions on how to remove these?
Didn't work for me. I have verified it twice and restarted the browser each time. It is set in both "internet zone" and "trusted sites zone". Did I miss something? IE: step 5 appears blank on the solution posted.
Hi Jonathon, Is your Computer running on an Organsations network that Uses Terminal Services and Group Policies? my Colleague is experiencing the exact same issue of Not Being able to Drag and Drop on the Customisation Form , and is using IE11. I believe the issue is related the Compatibility Mode your Explorer is running?
I've had the same problem in a number of organizations, both 2015 and 2016. There have been some other threads about it (you are not alone!!) and Microsoft really needs to fix the problem. The workaround is to log into CRM using Google Chrome to do your customizations. Then your drag and drop will work properly. (Don't you love it?)
