I created a child entity under contract (1-N Primary Relationship) and added a datagrid to this child entity inside the Contract Form. Since the field is required to the Child Entity and the relationship is a primary relationship, the "+" button on the top of the grid opens a window to add a new item.
But, when the contract become active, the "Add New" button on the child entity grid disappear.
Firstly, I tried to change the relationship type from primary to referential. Nothing has changed.
Then, using Ribbon Workbench, I tried to give the Add New button of the child entity the same Display Rules and Enable Rules of the "Add New" button of the Contract Lines (which, even when the Contract is active, is not hiddden), or the same Display and Enable Rules of the "Open Associated Grid View", or let the Command with no Display Rules or Enable Rules at all, but the "Add New" button for the child entity is still hidden.
When a contract becomes active, you cannot edit it anymore. Even though you are not editing it directly, you are updating a relationship.
Once the Contract is Active you can still add/remove sub-records (but not through the + button, or the Associated view under the little icon on the Contract forms' sub-grid) but you could from the Quick Create + button if you've set that up (Allow Quick Create on the Entity Definition view; then create a new Quick Create Form ).
The Quick Create button will not auto-populate the details of the Contract you are viewing (you will need to manually select the contract and once you've saved the new record) and you will also need to press <F5> to refresh the contract form shown on screen to see the new item appear in the sub-grid).
I think Quick Create might provide at least some of the functionality you are looking for?
I set up the entity to allow quick create, created the quick create form, but the "+" button for the Quick Create is not visible either.
Anyone knows why can't I add a related entity record to an active contract from the contract form, but if I add a new record from Advanced Find or the SiteMap entity list, I can relate the new record to the active contract?
I tested the Quick Create & it worked for me. Are you sure it's not working for you? Please check through my previous instructions to make sure you haven't missed anything.
The + button appears as the Quick Create button on the main menu; not on the sub menu.
The contract form behaviour is OOTB behaviour for Active Contracts.
