We are facing issue - " An unknown error occurred while synchronizing data to Outlook.Item= " error when we track email in outlook
- Able to track when an email received from CRM user
- Unable to track when an email received from non CRM user
We are on CRM 2013 SP1, both CRM and Outlook client
As part of troubleshooting, tried below options but didn't worked out.
1. Error message in outlook trace file - Generic message
<Message>SYSTEM user account not found.</Message><Entity id is null or empty, skip deleting the entity 'email'><Error:An unknown error occurred while synchronizing data to Outlook>
2. Uninstalled and installed CRM 2013 outlook client
3. Cleared cache from Outlook forms manager
4. Changed personal options in outlook to track - "All email messages"
Any similar experiences?
Thanks in advance.
Please find the below link, which should give you a good idea as to how we can track emails from even non CRM user.

If you could also verify your environment, if your Client and the server are on the same version,
Also there is a setting in CRM -> Administration -> System settings -> Email to track all email messages to CRM .

Apologies for delay in response, we are on same version both client & server.
I have changed system settings as well to track all email messages, but no luck.
Any other suggestions?

Is this issue happening for multiple users on all machines ,or just for you. Could you try updating your Client and your Server to SP 1 UR 2 and check if the issue is still present.
And re-configuring your org.
Also What is the error message you see in the Event viewer?

I had pretty much the same problem.
Reason: in systemuser-table of the organisation- database the "fullname" is not set correctly for "system" and "integration" user. In my case the fullname was "INTEGRATION." and "SYSTEM.". The firstname was empty as it is supposed to be and also the lastname was correct. only the fullname was wrong because that field should be exactly the lastname.
Solution: update the systemusertable and set fullname to "INTEGRATION" and "SYSTEM" --> notice the missing dot at the and of the fullname!!!!
comment: this was also the solution for a weird problem regarding "encryption" when connecting the outlook client.
Any solutions on this problem? Checked our SystemUser table and the full name does not have a .
