I'm excited about the ability to make phone calls from within the app while having the app record the metadata, something that our firm has never used. According to the CRM Help and Training Page:
"In CRM for tablets, choosing the phone icon starts a Skype call. In CRM for phones, it starts a phone call."
When I try it on iPhone 6, however, tapping the phone button next to a contact tells me that I need to use Skype. Is this a configuration issue? I would just like it to make a normal phone call.
Thanks in advance for any help!
Not sure how this affects the iOS client application, but in CRM there is a setting to use Skype. See the following: http://www.microsoft.com/en-US/dynamics/crm-customer-center/set-up-microsoft-dynamics-crm-to-make-calls-with-skype-or-lync.aspx
Thanks for your help, Nicolae. I did find that page but the setting seems only to allow me to choose between Skype and Lync. There does not seem to be an option for 'neither', which makes me think that it may well not affect the iOS client.
Having just tried to recreate this issue myself on the same phone I found it depended which CRM App I was using. There are two (three if you include the iPad) Apps available in the Store for MS Dynamics. The old Application is the one with three sails as the icon and the new is a circular Icon. The application with the Circular Icon (the newer one) doesn't manifest this same issue and I believe this is the Application referred to in the help documentation linked.
There is a caveat - my understanding (and I'm not an iPhone user) is that this application requires your CRM instance to be on the latest version? (Need to check this).
Hope this helps,
Thanks so much Thomas.
I think it may be something along these lines. We are on CRM 2013 so, after a little reading, I installed the older (sails) app. When I logged in with our server address, however, the app prompted me to install the new app even though it is supposedly for 2015. It's a bit confusing from MS.
I'm going to go back and try again with the old app. Thanks for your help!
Anyone try this with the Dynamics 365 for phones, crm online 2016 and ipone 6?
