Hi,Im having a problem with a workflow on CRM.I've created a simple workflow that adds 1 to a field (account)(print1 and print2) for each workflow i run (contracts). basicly i want to have a field on my acounts that says the number of contracts (Active and expired).
But when i run the workflow in a lot of contracts at same time it doesn't make the sum (print3), when i do one at each time it works(print4)...
What should i do?
The problem here is that some of the workflows are running at the same time and so they get the same number to add 1 onto.
If you make your workflow run as a realtime workflow you could first update a dummy field on the account to get a transaction lock on it- then update it again with the value+1.
For a good description of this transaction lock approach see Jukka's post - survivingcrm.com/.../auto-numbering-workflows-real-time-vs-asynchronous
Alternatively you could use a simple rollup field to do this calculation and then possibly update your custom field to be the same as the rollup field.
Hope this answers your question.
