We use the crm to track the efforts of our Sales and Marketing teams though recently we got some odd data saying that a couple members from each team had sent out 400+ emails which is way beyond the normal, which is about 30. Does any one know why this is happening and how to keep it from happening.
Maybe they created some quick campaigns to send mass emails to your customers.
Or maybe there are some workflow which run under their name. Those workflows are sending for example email reminder.
possibles causes may be:
1) Email campaign
2) Quick campaign
3) Bad configured workflow
In all these cases you could go up to the cause looking for regarding in email sent or background processes completed.

I added a picture of the time stamps of his email activities. it seems to of counted all his past correspondence into new activities.
it is not a work flow issue i have added a screen shot of the time stamps showing that it counted past emails.
Check EMail content and recipients, does that give you an idea on what scenario(like update of a particular field in the record) these EMail notifications has to be sent out? Check "Regarding" field in the EMail, this is the record for which the email has been sent out. If Auditing is configured, check the "Regarding" field record to see any changes occurred during that time. Do you have scheduled Data Synchronization Jobs which updates CRM records? These may give some idea on why these EMails are sending out.
The emails were actually sent days or weeks before the day that is listed as the creation day. I have gone through his actual emails to verify the creation dates, also they were not resent.
