For one of the user we assigned a Security role of "Read" only access for contact entity, But when this user logged into CRM, still able to edit the record values.
CAL assigned is "Read-Write" Basic.
Two scenarios are possible.
1. The user is part of a team that has write privileges to the contact entity.
2. Another user shared write access to the record in question to the user.
Please check if you are running into one of these scenarios.
If neither of these seem to match your situation please consider raising a support ticket with Microsoft. Support will be able to help you track down where the write access is coming from.
