To ensure the cost (amount) is displayed correctly in the Work Order journal for hours in the Asset Management Module of Dynamics 365 Finance, you need to configure several settings related to resources and project categories:
Resource Setup:
Go to Organization Management > Resources > Resources tab.
Create and define resources and their types here. Only resources of type "Human Resource" will appear in the list for work order journals.
Cost Price Configuration:
Set the cost price for the project category in Project Management and Accounting > Settings > Price > Cost Price.
You can also configure the journal and hour utilization in Project Management and Accounting > Settings > Project Management and Accounting Parameters.
The cost price defined for the project category will affect the amount shown in the last column of the journal.
Resource List and Price Information:
Define the list and price information in Project Management and Accounting > Project resources > Resources list.
Set up prices for hours in Project Management and Accounting > Setup > Prices > Cost price (hour) & Sales price (hour).
Work Order Job Project Setup:
When you create a work order job, the work order project is determined by the setup of the parent project for work orders.
This is configured in Asset Management > Setup > Work orders > Project setup.
The project ID and related activity number are used to track costs related to the work order job and the selected asset.
Note:
If you have multiple work order job lines and the price is not refreshing automatically when updating hours, you may need to click on a field in the same line (such as line property, category, resource, or work order job) to trigger the amount to refresh. This is a known behavior in the system1.
By ensuring these configurations are set up, the cost (amount) should display correctly in the Work Order journal for hours in Asset Management
