Copy into legal entity error

I am ending with the below error when using the functionality 'Copy into legal entity' to copy data from source to target legal entity under DMF for Expense category entity. All other related entities for expense management setup has copied successfully

Error:

Results. Matching record with key 'CategoryId' : Advertising/Promotions for the data source 'CategoryEntity' does not exist.

Hi,

It seems that in the target company you dont have the category "Advertising/Promotions", or it is not set up as in the source company.

Have you checked that?

Hi Adis,

In the target company the shared categories has Advertising/Promotions and the Category Id field is correctly updated. It has also been copied using copy into legal entity functionality. Further in the source company it is already setup.

I have also tried to individually import the entity and it ends up with the same error. I think the issue lies in the target company. What checks should be performed to troubleshoot it?

The error message indicates that the record with the key 'CategoryId' for 'Advertising/Promotions' does not exist in the source data.

Check/Ensure that the Advertising/Promotions are available in the main datasource. You can check the source data to confirm that the 'CategoryId' for 'Advertising/Promotions' is present.

Make sure that the data mapping between the source and target legal entities is correctly set up. Sometimes, incorrect mappings can lead to missing records during the copy process.

Additionally, review the error logs for more detailed information or a better understanding of the issue.

Hi,

The issue maybe lies in the mapping or relationship in target legal entity. Check if the project category is properly linked to shared category.
Also, Ensure that Category hierarchy and Expense purpose configurations are consistent across legal entities, as missing links can trigger this error.

Hi,

Just to be sure we are talking about the same thing. The shared categories are global and you will find all no matter from which legal entity you are looking.

The expense category are created from the shared categories, i.e. they are child records from the shared categories.

You need to check in this form if you have the Advertising/Promotions category and also set up correctly.

Thanks for clarifying.

I am trying to copy the Expense category form which you have provided screen shot from Source to Target company and I cannot see the Advertising/Promotions category as it is ending up with the error.

Hi Raj,

The project category is not setup in the source company so not sure why would this impact in copying the expense category in the target company.

Steps to check mapping:

Go to System Administration > Data Management.

Open the Data project used for the migration.

Click View Mapping on the entity (like EcoResCategory or LedgerCategory).

Review how source fields (like CategoryId, Name) map to target fields.
