Adobe Marketo → Dynamics 365 CE Task Owner Sync Issue

Hi everyone,

I'm looking for some guidance regarding the sync behavior between Adobe Marketo and Dynamics 365 CE.

Current Scenario

We have Marketo campaigns that create Tasks against Leads or Contacts. When a campaign is executed in Marketo, a Task is successfully synced and created in Dynamics 365.

Previously, our Marketo campaign was configured to assign the Task to a specific Team. However, after the Task synced to Dynamics 365, the Task Owner was automatically changed from the Team to the corresponding Lead/Contact Owner. This behavior was working as expected.

What Changed

Recently, we modified the campaign assignment rule in Marketo to use a different Team and then executed the campaign again.

Now, when the Task is created in Dynamics 365:

  • The Task is created successfully.

  • The Task Owner remains the Team assigned in Marketo.

  • The owner is no longer being reassigned to the Lead/Contact Owner, unlike the previous behavior.

Additional Information

  • There is no custom plugin, Power Automate flow, workflow, real-time workflow, or JavaScript in Dynamics 365 that changes the Task owner after creation.

  • As far as we can tell, this owner change was happening as part of the Marketo/Dynamics sync or connector behavior.

Questions

  1. Has anyone experienced similar behavior with the Marketo ↔ Dynamics 365 CE integration?

  2. Is there any Marketo sync setting or campaign configuration that controls whether the Task Owner is reassigned to the Lead/Contact Owner?

  3. Does the Marketo Dynamics Sync have any dependency on the Team used for task assignment?

  4. Are there any connector logs or configuration settings that we should check to understand why this behavior changed?

Any suggestions or troubleshooting steps would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!
