Prenotes: how does it work in F&O?

Hello,

We are looking to implement prenotes in F&O. The scarce documentation available helped get me started on setting up the customer and company bank accounts. I'm able to generate the prenote file using one of the OOTB format. I can even see the pending prenote on the customer's bank account details.

I guess this is where the documentation falls short, and I haven't been able to find much on my own. I assume we'd then take our output file from generating the prenote and send it to our bank. What happens from this point? How does the prenote status get updated?

Also, procedurally, does F&O hold processing until the prenote is approved (or whatever status is appropriate)?

Thank you.

Hello we have implemented prenotes in our environment for our vendors. Once the prenote file is uploaded to your bank they are required to respond within a certain amount of business days. You can set up that response delay time in Cash & Bank Mgmt>Bank accounts>select you bank account>Payment management turn on prenote required and enter the prenote response days to match what your bank requires.  The business users will not be able to issue a payment until those days have passed. If the bank responds with a negative response then the business can expire the account.
If you wish to be able to issue payment regardless of when the bank responds then you would set the response days to 0 and the business can process payment right away.  During the Generate Payments process, the system will remind you if a prenote needs to be issued and you will not be able to generate the NACHA ACH file for payment until the prenote is created.  If you try and Create Prenotes and you receive the error: "The menu item with name prenoteap could not be opened" it means that there are no new active bank accounts to generate a prenote file.

    Hi Alireza,
I've seen this article. In fact, it's one of the only available which speaks about prenotes. Process-wise, I don't know what prenotes do, so I'm looking for real-world experience and examples from anyone who has implemented it.
I did run some testing with a vendor and PO's. Took the PO to invoiced status. Tried creating a vendor payment journal, and the only thing I encountered was a message when I generated payment reminding me there was an outstanding prenote. I was still able to proceed and create the payment file.
