P&L Report Showing Profit/Loss by Shortcut Dimension After Transfer Orders

I have a doubt regarding the Profit & Loss report.

We have two locations, and each location is assigned a different Shortcut Dimension Value (used as Outlet). When we create a Transfer Order from one location to another, the P&L report shows a loss for one dimension and a profit for the other dimension when filtered by Shortcut Dimension Value.

However, when we run the P&L report without any dimension filter, the overall figures are correct.

Could you please advise if there is an alternative way to analyze or verify this report dimension-wise? We would like to understand whether the transfer entries are affecting the profitability by dimension and how this can be reviewed accurately.

I have the same question (0)

    Hello,
This is usually expected when you analyze P&L by Outlet dimension while posting inventory transfers between outlets: the company-level P&L is correct because both sides net together, but when filtered by one dimension, Business Central only shows the entries carrying that specific dimension, so one outlet can look like it has a loss and the other a profit/movement. To verify it properly, don’t rely only on the P&L filter; drill down to the G/L Entries, use Set Dimension Filter, and run Dimensions - Detail or Analysis by Dimensions for the Outlet dimension to see the exact accounts and entries causing the difference. Also review the related Item Ledger Entries / Value Entries for the transfer document to confirm whether transfer cost, inventory adjustment, rounding, or posting setup entries are hitting P&L accounts with different outlet dimensions. If these are internal stock movements, you may need a reporting rule/design to exclude internal transfer-related accounts from outlet profitability, or standardize how dimensions are assigned on transfer postings.
