When using Electronic Reporting (ER) formats for outbound ACH payments, you're correct that the standard control report option available in the OOTB (out-of-the-box) NACHA export process isn't directly available. However, there are several approaches to get control totals:
Modify the ER Format:
You can enhance your ER format to include control totals at the end of the file
Add calculated fields for batch totals, item counts, and dollar amounts
Create a Companion Report:
Develop a Power BI report or SSRS report that runs after ACH generation
Use the same query logic as your ER format to display totals
Use Intermediate Steps:
Generate the ACH file through ER
Create a custom job that reads the generated file and produces a control report
Leverage Data Entities:
Export the payment data to a data entity before ACH generation
Use this to create your control totals separately
If you need to implement one of these solutions, you would typically:
For ER format modification:
Edit your format to add footer records with totals
Use ER functions like SUM, COUNT, etc. to calculate control figures
For a companion report:
Base it on the PaymentJournal table or related ACH transaction tables
Filter for the same criteria used in your ER format
