Quality Management - Block Posting

We are facing an issue with a lot that was initially blocked due to an inspection failure.

  • The original inspection (QI‑01) was marked as Fail.
  • A re‑inspection (QI‑01,1) was then created and marked as Pass.
  • The lot has been updated with the latest inspection result (Pass).
However, when a Sales Document is created and posted, the system still throws an error indicating that the result is Fail for QL‑01 (original inspection with failed status).

Additionally, if the original inspection (QI‑01) is deleted, the system allows the document to be posted successfully.

Could anyone please confirm whether this behavior is expected, and if deleting the original inspection is the correct approach to proceed?

    Hello,
Yes, this can be expected depending on your Quality Management Setup. Business Central can evaluate multiple inspections for the same lot, and the field Quality inspection selection criteria controls whether the posting check looks at any matching inspection, the most recently modified inspection, or the newest inspection/reinspection. If your setup is considering “any inspection that matches,” the original failed inspection QI-01 can still block the sales posting even though QI-01,1 passed. I would not recommend deleting the original failed inspection, because you lose the quality/audit history. Instead, review Quality Management Setup > Quality inspection selection criteria and consider using Only the newest inspection/reinspection or Only the newest finished inspection/reinspection, depending on your process. Also check the Lot No. Information Card to make sure the lot is not still manually/workflow blocked, and review your Pass/Fail result controls and any workflow that blocks/unblocks lots.
    Regards,
