Changing the Legal Entity Language

We use D365 F&O. We are in Canada. We've been live on F&O for 2 1/2 years. When we setup our system we chose the language for our Legal Entity as en-CA for Canada.

We're finding that in one area of the system data doesn't populate on a view because there is no TRANSLATION defined for en-US to en-CA.

Product Information Management - Products - Released Products, the Product Name doesn't appear, but if we change the language on the Legal Entity to en-US, it populates (we did this in our sandbox environment)

We've been told by our partner that changing the default language on our Legal Entity is not a big issue, but our Systems Management team has concerns that this might cause issues in areas we can't readily see.

Can anyone help me determine where language translations impact the system and where I should be looking to get ahead of any problems we might encounter?

    Hi Peter,

The scenario you mentioned, is that about the product name field label or the data? If it is the data, what is the language setting on the users? There is a feature that product names are shown in local languages.

Changing the language seems easy, but there might be an impact on all places where translations in data was used. This can be dimension names, CoA account names, product names, etc. You also need to verify the workflow configurations. This should be configured for all languages used by your users.

    Hi,

The language isnt stored on the legal entity, but on the DirPartyTable, i.e. global address book.

You can go to the global address book, find the legal entity. Wether you change it on the legal entity or address book, its reflected vice versa.

Basically, it works like the language on all other master data. Its being pulled when you create other master data or transaction data.
I think you are good to go. If you really encounter some issues, you can change it back, since it doesnt affect transaction data, only the master data where the language is pulled from the legal entity.

    Kind regards, Adis
