Error logging into D365 F&O OneBox after DB restore from UAT

Hi everyone,

I am facing an issue while logging into a D365 F&O OneBox environment. It was working fine before, but after restoring the database from UAT, I started getting a login error.

After the DB restore, I completed the following steps:

  • Synced the database
  • Ran Admin provisioning
  • Verified in the database that my new user record exists in the USERINFO table
  • Confirmed that the SID is correct by comparing it with the old database

Even after this, I am still unable to log in.

Here are the environment versions:

OneBox version

  • Installed product version: 10.0.46 (10.0.2428.63)
  • Installed platform version: Update 70 (7.0.7778.29)

UAT version

  • Installed product version: 10.0.46 (10.0.2428.95)
  • Installed platform version: Update 70 (7.0.7778.45)

Could the version mismatch between OneBox and UAT be the reason for this issue, or could there be some other cause I should check?

I have also attached screenshots of the error.

PS: Old database is USMF DB and In query result SS botton one is USMF DB (OLD) and top one is NEW one

Thanks in advance.

    Hi ShahzaibAhmed52,

Can you please take care of the correct categories when you create a question on the community? You selected all of them, which will be confusing for people monitoring questions related to e.g. GP or SL.

In this case your question is only related to Human Resources, Finance, or Project Operations.

Concerning your issue. Can you tell more about the screenshot with the SQL output of your user? Why are there two records for your user in the second part? Is that the new database restored from your UAT version?

If you have two records, ensure only one will be referencing to your user details. Also check if the user record is enabled.
It is also recommended to have the application on the same version as your database.

The two records are in USMF DB not in UAt Db UAt Db have only one record and It is enabled

    Hi ShahzaibAhmed52,

In case you are running a local VHD when you mention OneBox, try to follow all steps for first use, including a self-signed certificate.

Set up the downloadable VHD for first use - Finance & Operations | Dynamics 365 | Microsoft Learn

    Hi Andre,

As I told you it was working fine before DB restore. The steps you suggested are already followed. the issues started aft I restored DB from UAT on Local VHD VM.

Hello, this morning we have a similar issue on a Cloud Hosted, from a customer SAT to a our local VM (Different tenant)

We try all steps we know to resolve it without success in particular try to set admin using Set-D365Admin

At the end we try this last approach:

    update userinfo
    set objectid = 'xxxx'
    where id ='admin'

Where object id taken from Entra ID

Should I take this object ID? If yes that didn;t worked for me. I have the same case the tenant of my Local VM is diffrenent from the client's UAT

    Hi ShahzaibAhmed52,

I suggested to redo the initial steps as changes are made in the database and web.config configuration file when performing the tasks. When you restore a DB from another environment, you copy along other security settings in the DB.

Hi ShahzaibAhmed52, nope, put object id of your user in your entra id, if the admin you want is you.

Thank you, @Diego Mancassola your help was greatly appreciated. That solution worked for me.
For anyone else facing the same issue, here are the steps in a very simple way:
    1. Go to portal.azure.com
    2. Open Users, then select the user you want to use as admin
    3. Copy the Object ID of that user
    4. Run the following query:
    update userinfo
set objectid = '[Object ID you copied]'
    where id = 'Admin'
