Hello everyone,

This is not a question about a problem.

What are the best ai tools that helped you understanding some business central standard functionalities or configurations ?
Are you using ai for AL coding ? Have you tried multiple ai models for AL coding ? What is the best choice ?

Thanks in advance..
I have the same question (0)

I find Claude works the best so far. Keep in mind that most AI tools are not trained on the most up to date data. They are usually accurate up to a few months out. But Claude can develop AL code and answer questions about BC. I have taken technical designs and built proof of concept apps that may have taken me 2-3 days in the past and done them in 2-3 hours with Claude Code.

Copilot is also quite decent these days to. I don't find it as accurate when coding but its great for general questions.

For understanding standard BC I still use Microsoft Learn and the application itself as the main source. AI helps when I want a faster explanation of the logic, or to compare two setups quick. But I don't trust it blind for exact config steps, it still mixes versions or names a field that is not even in your environment.

For AL coding yes, but as an assistant, not the final word. Good for boilerplate, page and table skeletons, test ideas, explaining code someone else wrote. Where I am careful is events, standard object names, permissions, posting routines — anything that leans on the real symbols. That is where it invents things confidently.

I tried more than one model. Honestly the model matters but the context matters more. Feed it the real objects, the symbols, the error message, the version, and the output jumps. Without that even a strong one gives you confident wrong AL.
So Learn plus VS Code symbols plus AI as a fast helper, always checked by a real dev. What are you mainly after, the standard side or writing extensions?

Glad to help - follow up if anything is unclear.
â–º  If this solved it, marking it verified helps others too.
