Reduce table size by archiving the data

Hi All,

We have several tables gone beyond 100 GB in size and they are Microsoft standard tables. They contain data from last 6 years and we might not want to keep this much old data there. Last couple 3 years of data should be fine with us.

Any suggestion on how to proceed for the archival.

We do not want to delete this data and want to make sure whenever needed we should be able to generate report out of it.

I am just wondering if D365F&O has any standard archival mechanism for such standard table.

It does have. Take a look at Archive data in Dynamics 365 finance and operations apps with Dataverse.

Hi VD,

Next to archival features, there are cleanup jobs in Dynamics 365. Cleanup routines in Dynamics 365 Finance and Dynamics 365 Supply Chain Management - Finance & Operations | Dynamics 365 | Microsoft Learn

Unfortunately, for the tables you mentioned, there is currently no cleanup or archival feature available out of the box. Archival for retail transactions was announced, but this seems to be hidden behind a flight, controlled by Microsoft or isn't complete yet.

I recommend to create a ticket for Microsoft Support and ask for (future) options to cleanup or archive the data.
