How can Dynamics 365 Supply Chain support healthcare inventory workflows?

Hi everyone,

I’m trying to understand how Dynamics 365 Supply Chain Management can be used for healthcare-related inventory workflows where accuracy, traceability, and compliance are very important.

For example, in a healthcare environment, teams may need to manage medical supplies, equipment, expiry dates, batch numbers, stock movement, vendor records, and location-based inventory across clinics, labs, pharmacies, or treatment centers.

My question is: what is the best way to configure Dynamics 365 Supply Chain for this type of workflow?

A few things I’m trying to understand:

  • Can Dynamics 365 handle batch tracking and expiry date management for healthcare inventory?
  • What is the best approach for managing stock across multiple clinic or facility locations?
  • How should approval workflows be set up for purchasing and replenishment?
  • Can it connect smoothly with custom healthcare software used for patient care, billing, or internal operations?
  • Are there any recommended modules, setup practices, or integration patterns for this kind of use case?

I’m not looking for a sales answer, just practical guidance from anyone who has worked on similar supply chain or healthcare inventory scenarios in Dynamics 365.

Thanks in advance.

    Hi,

It all depends how you configure the process.

    D365 has all the capabilities.

Example: You can define locations or warehouse as clinic

Setup product as batch enable with FEFO first expiry first out

Run master planning for replinshment for each location

Workflows are easy to implement using powo#er automate

and now you can even have AI Agents performing these activities
