Going from GP 2015 to Dynamics 365

What are the main issues encountered when moving from GP 2015 to Dynamics 365? We are a "small" manufacturing company of $65M annual sales. We currently use production and inventory integrated system from GP 2015. We also have an in-house developed API who works as our CRM program/system. It includes Customer Care (mainly warranty claims) and online ordering. We know new ERP system will need eventually have to phase out our current CRM program.

As far as I have researched, timing is important for us since GP 2015 will be discontinued by 2031. We do not want to be the last company turning the light off before migrating to a new ERP system. Any thoughts, help is appreciated.

Hi @JS-13081605-0, I have moved your question to the Finance forum; It's the forum for GP questions. Hope you don't mind.

I haven't worked with GP, so I'm not much help here. But my assumption is that you are looking into an reimplementation since GP is soo different compared to D365 Finance and D365 Business Central. So use it as an opportunity to maybe look into ways to optimize your current processes, that's what I have been doing when dealing with Dynamics AX migration projects.

Jonas is correct.  I've worked with both GP and D365 FinOps.  They are completely different animals.  Transitioning to FinOps would be considered a full, new implementation with data migration and integration updates to legacy systems part of the implementation plan.

Fortunately, you have time to consider your options, one of which might be to consider Dynamics Business Central as an option also.
