Hide "All projects" page / "Project stage" button

Hi everyone,

I have two security-related questions in the Project management and accounting module in D365 F&O, is it possible to achieve these with out of the box functionality (no customisations)?

1. Hide the "All projects" page but still allow access to the "My Projects" page for a specific role? Both these pages seem to use the same menu item.
2. Hide the "Project stage" button for a certain role. Ideally, I'd like certain users to be able to view the projects but not be able to change the project stage.

Thanks in advance!

    1. The menu items are different, for all projects it is ProjProjectsListPage and for my projects it is ProjProjectsListPage_MyProjects you can manage the two differently.
2.. Instead of trying to hide/show menu button(project stage), which is already managed in the code, I would suggest controlling the options under it (Created, In-progress, Finished, etc.) because those stages/option have action menu items behind it.

Thank you Sohaib for the quick response.

    1. If the menu items are different, is it possible to create a user role which has access to only the My Projects Page, and restrict their access to the All Projects page?

    2. What I want to achieve is for project managers to not have the ability to update the project stages, but not the specific rules for the stage - how would you suggest doing this?

    Hi,
For both scenarios you can manage it via custom security role.

Thank you Alireza. Which forms / permissions is the project stage button related to? How do you duplicate the role and remove the permission to that exact button only?

    1) yes, if you add one menu item to a custom security role and remove other menu item, the user should not see the hidden menu item. This is very normal in Dynamics. Think about All Purchase Quotations vs My Purchase Quotations. It is the same concept. All projects and My projects are two different menus.

    2) for each project stage, there is action menu items behind it. If you want to remove the access of a particular stage, remove the access of action menu items behind it. I recommend not doing this in standard  duty/privilege but in custom privilege/duty.
