1. Which third party application are you trying to integrate with D365 Finance?
2. Are you calling the custom service directly from D365 Finance and storing those parameters in D365 Finance?
Suggestions:
If you are using Azure services like blob storage, D365 based services like Dynamics ERP or Graph for email services, then yes Azure app registration is required. In cases like PowerAutomate where you are trying to access the D365 Finance connectors, there is no app registration required.
Depending on the architecture in place, if you are integrating third party application with D365 Finance via Entra ID authentication then API Permissions are mandatory. If the above point is the approach being taken then Delegated or Application permissions define whether the app runs on behalf of an user or a service account. It provides identity for the application and enables OAuth 2.0 authentication.
