Copy journal header description to journal line descriptions in D365 Finance & Operations?

Hi everyone,

I'm using Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations and I'm trying to determine whether there is a standard feature that automatically copies the journal header description to the Description field on each journal line (voucher description).

For example:

  • Journal header Description: Monthly Accrual - June 2026

  • Desired result: Every new journal line automatically defaults the Description to Monthly Accrual - June 2026.

Currently, I have to manually enter or copy the description on each line.

I've looked through the journal setup and parameters but haven't found an option for this.

Is there a standard configuration or parameter that enables this behavior, or would this require a customization (X++)?

If anyone has implemented this without customization, I'd appreciate knowing how you achieved it.
