Issue with Financial Dimension 'Retail Channel' Changing Automatically in D365 F&O

Hello everyone,

Good day for all of you.

A financial dimension named Retail Channel has a valid and approved value of 0224. This value was already used in accounting transactions during 2025 and did not present any issues with various departments.

However, when selecting certain values within the Department dimension, specifically:
- Sales
- Real Estate

We observe that the Retail Channel value automatically changes from 0224 to 00000401 without any user intervention.

Important Notes:

- The value 00000401 is not among the defined or active values for the Retail Channel financial dimension.

- The issue does not occur with all departments, but only with the aforementioned departments.

- The change is made automatically by the system, indicating the existence of a setting or rule controlling this.

Could you pls help me in this issue ?

Hi,

Just check whether the derived dimension or default dimension setup was done recently. Additionally, please check the financial dimension value setup at the payment method level, as it is overriding the financial dimension value of your store.

As per your suggestion, we have carefully reviewed the following configurations and After verification, we confirm that no setup or recent changes exist for any of the above points that could cause the Retail Channel dimension to be overridden.

The issue still persists only when selecting specific departments Like (Sales and Real Estate), while other departments work as expected.

So, What Can I do?

Hi,

Are you aware of customizations or ISV solutions in your environment? E.g. I worked at an ISV company before where we developed a Data Quality Studio solution where we could set up rules for auto applying (overwriting) field values. Is this or a similar product in use?

When exactly is the value changing? At the moment a user chooses another value for the department or after a while?

Please find our clarifications below:
We are not aware of any customizations or ISV solutions in our environment that apply or overwrite financial dimension values.
There is no Data Quality Studio or similar third-party product in use that enforces rules for auto-applying or changing field values.
To the best of our knowledge, the system is running on standard D365 F&O functionality without any custom logic affecting financial dimensions.

Regarding the timing of the issue:
The Retail Channel value changes immediately at the moment the user selects certain Department values (specifically Sales or Real Estate).
The change happens instantly and automatically, not after saving the record or after any delay.

Hi,

You must have a lower environment. You can verify the same functionality in that environment to rule out any recent configuration changes in the production environment.

Hi,

It seems that financial dimension value is renamed recently and it is showing this inconsistent behavior.

Please check the Data maintenence page from system administration module under periodic tasks.

Try to find job related to financial dimension rename and verify whether any of the status is showing scheduled. If yes, related batch job mut be withhold that automatically corrects such inconsistency.

Please check and provide further inputs.
