Power apps use rights in business central license

Posted on by
Hello Everyone,

I just want to clarify power apps use rights in business central license.
We want to build power apps using business central connector.
Currently, some users are licensed with business central essential , and some users are licensed with business central team members.
According to the license guide, business central essential includes the power apps use rights, but business central team members seems not.
So this means when we build power apps, we can connect to business central connector for business central essential licensed users, but for business central team members licensed users, they cannot connect to business central connector. Is my understanding is correct?

Hi, as mentioned, users with a Business Central Essential license have the use rights to connect to the Business Central connector when building Power Apps. However, users with a Business Central Team Members license do not have the use rights to connect to the Business Central connector. Therefore, your understanding is correct.

    Hi,

Your understanding is correct. Users with the Business Central Essential license can use Power Apps with the Business Central connector. However, users with the Business Central Team Members license do not have these Power Apps use rights. Therefore, only the Essential licensed users can connect to Business Central through Power Apps.

Hope that clarifies things! If you have any more questions, feel free to ask.

BC team license has limitations, it mainly allows user to view data in BC. If they are not able to use power app, it probably caused by the nature of the license. You could consider to upgrade their license if needed.

Yes you are correct. Here's a snapshot from the July licensing guide - Power-Platform-Licensing-Guide-July-2024.pdf

FIY that even with a Business Central essential license you're very restricted as to what you can do in Power Apps. For example, your dataverse database is very limited. A lot of the time purchasing Power Apps licenses will be required.
