Canvas App crashes while working/running – how to identify cause and prevent it?

Hi everyone,

I have a Power Apps Canvas App that sometimes crashes while users are working in it. The app opens normally, but during usage it suddenly stops/responds slowly/crashes.

I want to understand how to troubleshoot this issue and how to avoid it in future.

What are the best practices to check this?

I am planning to verify these points:

  1. Check app performance using Monitor

  2. Check if any screen has too many controls/formulas

  3. Check heavy OnStart, OnVisible, or repeated ClearCollect calls

  4. Check delegation warnings

  5. Check large collections or too many records loaded at once

  6. Check connector/API calls failing or taking too long

  7. Check if app is using too many images/media files

  8. Test in different browser/device/network

  9. Review formula errors from App Checker

  10. Optimize formulas using Concurrent(), avoid unnecessary variables/collections

Can anyone suggest the best way to identify the exact reason for Canvas App crash and recommended fixes to avoid this issue?

Thanks.

Your troubleshooting checklist is already very good. The challenge with Canvas App crashes is that there is usually no single root cause—it's often a combination of performance, memory, delegation, and network issues.

If I had to identify the top causes of Canvas App crashes, they would be:
    • Large collections and memory consumption
    • Non-delegable queries
    • Too many controls
    • Repeated connector calls
    • Heavy OnStart/OnVisible logic
    • Large images/media
    • Browser or device memory limitations
The single best tool to identify the exact reason is still:
    Monitor
    combined with:
App Checker + Performance Insights + Production telemetry/logging
These together usually reveal the root cause very quickly.

    Hi RP_AGT,

There is a specific Power Platform community, including a group for Power Apps. I suggest to ask your question here: Microsoft Power Platform Community Power Apps.
