In our current setup, the outward gate entry for a sales order can only be created while the SO is in Open order status. Once the packing slip or invoice is posted, the system no longer allows a gate entry to be created for that particular sales order.
However, our business requirement is the reverse: the gate entry should be created only after the sales order is invoiced and the goods are physically ready for dispatch from the warehouse — not while the order is still open.
Is there a standard configuration to control the order status at which an outward gate entry can be created? If not, what is the recommended approach to achieve this (configuration, parameter setting, or customization)?
Any guidance on how others have handled gate entry timing in dispatch scenarios would be appreciated.
