Dear Dynamics 365 Community,
I am reaching out to seek assistance and advice regarding an issue we are encountering with customizations in Dynamics 365 Sales Professional. Any insights or guidance would be greatly appreciated, especially from those who have faced similar challenges.
Our organization is a commercial insurance MGA and wholesale brokerage. We are in the process of implementing Dynamics 365 Sales Professional as our primary CRM solution. Given our unique sales model, which is significantly different from a traditional retail B2C environment, we anticipated the need to make several customizations to utilize out-of-the-box workflows and functionality effectively.
Over the last several weeks, we made extensive modifications to our solution within the development environment, using the Sales Hub application as the baseline for customizations. The customizations included modifications to entities, forms, and the sitemap, among other things. We have been very pleased with the results during internal testing.
However, after publishing all customizations and inviting our training and testing team to the pre-production environment yesterday, users are unable to see many of the changes. Here are some key details and examples of the problem:
-
Changes Not Visible:
- Simple modifications to the sitemap (e.g., adding a reference table for data) are not appearing.
- When users navigate to records in the Opportunity entity, the forms revert to default layouts, even though modified fields (e.g., renamed fields) retain their new names.
-
Environment and Security Setup:
- All users have active D365 Sales Professional licenses, as well as O365, Power BI, and Power Apps licenses.
- Users are members of the assigned Security Group within Entra ID (formerly Azure AD).
- Users have been assigned the following roles:
- System Customizer
- Sales Manager
- Sales Professional App Access
- The data is stored entirely within Dataverse.
-
Admin Access:
I have full administrative access to both the Dynamics 365 environment and the supporting applications. All customizations were published successfully from the development build.
One point of confusion is whether the Sales Professional license has limitations preventing certain types of customizations. I have read contradictory information online regarding what can and cannot be modified in the Sales Professional module versus Sales Enterprise. If anyone has clarity on this or has experienced similar issues, I would be very grateful to learn how you resolved them.
Thank you for taking the time to read through my request. Any suggestions, insights, or recommendations you can share would be immensely helpful to us as we continue our implementation process.
Sincerely,
Sean Adams
