Integrating Write-In Products from D365 CE/CRM to Business Central

Hello everyone,

I need to gain understanding about a business scenario that our customer used to create write-in products in real-time within Dynamics 365 CE/CRM and then submit the order in CRM. The order comes over to Business Central but cannot be created as those write-in products are not synchronized and coupled with the items in Business Central.

Is there any solution specifically for the write-in products in CE/CRM when the order is submitted to Business Central? I believe there's no out-of-the-box solution to achieve this, but anyone explain that if there's any solution to do this?

Thanks!

Hi, Perhaps you can make a small customization, and then after the record is created in the intermediate table, it will be automatically created in Business Central, so that automatic coupling can be achieved.

    Hope this helps.
    Thanks.

Integrating Write-In Products from D365 CE/CRM to Business Central
    Hi,

One option is to use a generic item in Business Central, like WRITEIN, and map all write-in products from CE/CRM to this item during integration. You can include the product description and pricing as part of the mapping so that it’s clear in Business Central what the item represents.

Another approach is to customize your integration logic to dynamically create items in Business Central when a write-in product is submitted from CE/CRM. For example, the integration tool (like Power Automate or KingswaySoft) could create a new item using the product description from CE/CRM as the item name.

If manual intervention is acceptable, you could train users to reconcile write-in products manually in Business Central. For smaller volumes of orders, this might be the simplest way to ensure accuracy without heavy customization.

Lastly, if your customer uses write-ins frequently, consider exploring third-party solutions like TIBCO Scribe or SmartConnect. These tools are designed to handle complex integration scenarios and might simplify the process.

    Hope it will be useful!
