Out of curiosity, when a worker is terminated, why does F&O not remove the worker from the position they were assigned to? Unsure if there's a reason to leave the terminated worker on the position. I would like to look into a customization to do this, but wanted to be sure there wasn't some reason not to. Any advice on the best place to put this customization would be helpful also. Thank you.

@Adis, you have a good point. Dynamics 365 HR is now put back in the F&O platform. This question indeed belongs to the Human Resources forum. I'll move it.
Removing position assignment when worker terminated
Hi Andre,
Agreed. It's a process question for HR, and I think they're just used to doing things in a certain order or way. Undoubtedly, because a worker can hold employment in multiple companies, they'll at some point forget to Terminate as opposed to End employment.
Thank you for your feedback. I'll attempt to mark your comment as the answer, but in case you don't see it done, please mark it on my behalf.
Removing position assignment when worker terminated
Hi,
When you edit the employment via the Employment history, then indeed there is no related position assignment updated.
The difference between End and Terminate is small. They both end the employment of the Worker. Why can't you then use the Termination process? If a worker will work for an entity, then terminating one employment and rehiring with another employment is an option.
Removing position assignment when worker terminated
Hi Andre,
Maybe it's a bit of semantics. In my dev box, from the worker's employment history, I go to End and provide an Employment end date. When I go back to the main worker detail page, I see under Personnel action that the Terminate link is greyed out. The worker only shows when the workers grid is filtered by Exited. The worker does have a position assignment. Even after ending their employment, the position still holds the worker as the assigned to.
I tried using Terminate to end a worker, and it does remove their position assignment. But because our workers can work in multiple F&O companies, I don't think we typically use Terminate.
Removing position assignment when worker terminated
Hi,
Can you explain what exactly you see happening in your environment? When I terminate a worker in my demo environment, the position assignment will get the same end date as when the emploment stopped.
