Hi Folks,

I have a requirement to create a new data entity which will be used for Odata from 2 existing standard data entities and some more new fields.

I have few doubts regarding the approach. Could you please solve them.

For this I have created a Composite data entity from the existing data entities. Is it a good approach??

I need to add some new fields in the new composite data entity, how can I do this and Can I only import and export this data entity in XML format?

Thanks in advance!!

    Hi

It seems you got the answer about virtual unmapped field on the following thread: Solved: Are unmapped Virtual fields are accessible to Odata

Regarding this question, can you verify the answers that helped you in this thread.

    Thanks,
    Waed Ayyad

    Hi D365FO Avatar,

As mentioned by Waed, you would need to create a new Data entity where you can include all tables needed as data sources. You can also consider some virtual fields instead of adding all tables as data sources, but that would be a design decision having performance in consideration. If you need multiple fields from a single table. then a data source would be better.

You are also mixing OData with import and export (XML format). Can you clarify if you need only OData or also Data management?
In case you need an XML response from OData, you can read the blog from Martin Drab: XML response from OData services – Goshoom.NET Dev Blog

Get a new data entity from 2 other data entity

    Hi Waed Ayyad,

I need to use the following two data entities

However, both entities have numerous data sources, which makes it difficult to figure out how to best achieve this functionality.

Could you please advise on how to approach this and retrieve the necessary vendor details efficiently?

    Thank you for your help!

    Hi,

You can't use CompositeDataEntity in OData, if you want to use it, then you can use it only Using DMF only.
If you want to use OData you should create new data entity. (Not composite)
Do the 2 standard data entities have relationships between there Datasource's? If yes then you can combine them in one data entity.
Can you add more details about the standards entities and the new fields that you want to add?

    Thanks,

    Waed Ayyad
