Netting Execution Stuck – Can’t Proceed with Customer/Vendor Balance Netting

I'm facing an issue with Customer and Vendor Balance Netting in Dynamics 365 Finance.

 

Every time I try to post or even delete a netting pair for a specific customer and vendor, I get the error:

 

"Customer and vendor balance netting cannot be executed. There is another netting execution running on the selected vendor or customer."

 

✅ Here's what I already tried:

I checked Netting history → it's empty.

No active or failed Batch jobs related to Netting.

I tried to delete the netting pair, but I get:

"Netting pair cannot be deleted while dependent netting execution exists."

    Netting Execution Stuck – Can’t Proceed with Customer/Vendor Balance Netting
    It's most likely due to a crash happening while netting calculation was running.
     
    I don't recall a way to reset it from the user interface, but you can have a developer or Microsoft support clear the lock by going into the execution table for netting (CustVendNettingExecution) and set the status to Error.

    The issue you're encountering with Customer and Vendor Balance Netting in Dynamics 365 Finance is likely due to a lingering or incomplete netting execution process that hasn't been properly cleared. Here are steps to troubleshoot and resolve the problem:
     
    Possible Causes
    1. Stuck Netting Execution:
      • A previous netting execution might not have completed successfully, leaving the system in a state where it believes the process is still running.
    2. Dependent Netting Execution:
      • The error message suggests that there is a dependent netting execution tied to the netting pair, even though the history appears empty.
    3. Batch Job Issues:
      • While you mentioned no active or failed batch jobs, there could be hidden or orphaned batch processes causing the issue.
    4. Data Integrity:
      • There might be inconsistencies in the database related to the netting pair or execution records.
    Steps to Resolve
    1. Check Batch Job History:
      • Go to System Administration > Batch Jobs and review the history for any completed or failed jobs related to netting. If you find any, clear or delete them.
    2. Clear Netting Execution Records:
      • Use SQL queries to check for lingering netting execution records in the database. For example:
        SELECT * FROM NettingExecutionTable WHERE Status = 'Running';
      • If you find any stuck records, update their status to 'Completed' or delete them (ensure you have a backup before making changes).
    3. Reset Netting Pair:
      • Temporarily deactivate the netting pair in the Netting Agreement setup, then reactivate it. This can sometimes clear dependent executions.
    4. Recreate Netting Pair:
      • If the issue persists, delete the netting pair (after resolving dependent executions) and recreate it.
