Show related a specific set of Campaign Responses (Activities) in a subgrid on Contact

I understand this isn't possible, but is there a workaround or other method to show Campaign Responses where Category = "xxx" in a subgrid.

I've tried configuring a timeline to show all Campaign Responses, but I can't do anything else to make it show a View of Campaign Responses.

I'd rather not use plugins if possible. We've also tried using Javascript but what we tried wasn't successful.

Any ideas?
