Remove related information tab

Posted on by 1,355
Hello,

My company using Dynamics 365 F&O.

Is there any way to hide Related Information tab which comes on the right side of window from specific user with this restriction that user cannot open it.

the basic reason to do this is to hide purchase order unit and total prices from users who are receive POs at my company's factory end.

I would also like to hide the same price columns from line items also. I have done this by hiding the column but if user know he can unhide the columns. Is there any way to restrict these fields for specific users?

    Hi Fahad,

In addition to the replies from Martin, I'm adding to this conversation a blog I wrote about hiding cost prices. This may be helpful for you for this requrement: Security how-to: Only finance users are allowed to see cost prices in Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations - Dynamicspedia

Related information is just the container for fact boxes; you need to think about the individual fact boxes.

For example, Purchase order totals is PurchTotalsSummaryPart form accessed through PurchTotalsSummaryPart menu item. In the standard application, this menu item is included in two security privileges: PurchTableDetailsView and PurchTableDetailsMaintain. If you give users access to one of these privileges (though user's security roles), they'll be able to see this form.

To learn how to configure permissions for fields, read Field Level Security in Dynamics 365 for Finance & Operations, for instance.

I can say I have more than the basic understanding of roles. I am the technical administrator of Dynamics 365 F&O ON-PREM and control the user rights also. I am attaching a snapshots marking which fields I want to disable for specific user from seeing it.

In above snap, I want to hide the red marked fields in Purchase order lines, I have done it by hiding the columns, but this not a permanent solution because user can unhide it.

And in below snap shows Related Information which comes on the right side. I want to disable this also for specific user.

I need to have a guidance from where I can put those restrictions or any link that may help me in this regard.

Do you mean that you aren't familiar with role-based security in F&O at all or that you know the basics but you have a problem with this particular field? When you talk about Related Item tab, in which form is it?

Regarding "Don't you think using security will restrict ALL the users from seeing it while I just require few users to be restricted on" - no, I don't. It would be very strange if you couldn't set different permissions for different workers; e.g. accountants would have to have the same permissions as warehouse workers.

Moved from Integration, Dataverse, and general topics forum.

You should use security for this purpose. If you don't give users permissions to see a field or fact box, they won't be able to add it on their own.
