Stocks are in unspecified location.

I'm trying to transfer stock from one location to another, but I receive an error saying there isn't enough stock available. However, when I check the inventory, the stock exists but is listed under an "Unspecified" location. I need to know how to move the stock from the 'Unspecified' location to the correct location. This issue occurs only during production order output entries.
I have the same question (1)

Hi, The easiest way is through Item Reclassification Journals, where you can directly select the new location code.

    Thanks.

I tried to perform an item reclassification, but the existing location is showing as unspecified. I attempted to leave the existing location blank in the Item Reclassification Journal, but the system returned an error stating that the location is mandatory. Could you please advise what location should be entered when the existing location is not specified?

    Hi,

If you have location code as mandatory, disable it first. Use Item Journal:
    > Post a negative adjustment (blank location).
    > Post a positive adjustment to the correct location with same cost and tracking.
    > Run Adjust Cost – Item Entries after posting to align costs.

Average/FIFO may cause temporary cost changes; Standard Cost is unaffected.
Set default locations on production orders to avoid this issue.

    Thanks
    Rishabh

Go to Inventory Setup, disable the Location Code mandatory rule.
Then do the reclassification from Empty location code to the correct location code.
Then turn back on the rule of Location Code mandatory.

You can filter Item ledger entries where Location Code='' and Open=Yes , to see if maybe there are some other stock left in an empty location. These must have been posted before the rule of Location Code mandatory was turned one.

    Hi

Inventory went to blank location due to missing Location Code — fix the setup and use an Item Reclass Journal to move existing stock.

Agreed with KasparsSemjonovs, just adding screenshot for better clarity.

Disabling "location code" temporarily from Inventory set up.

One more point, you should use "Applies to Entry" field also, so that you can pick exactly the same entry no. which you want to move to the desired location using Item reclassification journal.

Please do it in Sandbox environment first.
