In the financial reports, there is row analysis vs column analysis. What is the difference? When I created an analysis view, and added it to either or both, my total values appeared to be the same in my generated report. The only thing that appeared to change for me was the filter options via the dimension filters, based on what the dimensions were set in the analysis view. How best should they be used? They didn't seem as useful as the prior version when it was just selecting one analysis view.

Well when You create a report it gives You option to be flexible and create it as You need.
When You want to do report based on 5 GL accounts and 100 dimension values, then You want to display dimension as rows, and GL as columns, but if You want to report all GL's and department dimension, then most likely You will want to display GL's as rows and each department as column.

In the report You can select what You want to display as rows and what to display as columns.

Hi, There doesn't seem to be any Row analysis vs column analysis in the standard. If you mean Row Definition and Column Definition.

Row Definition: Contents of the row

Column Definitions: The content of the column, for example, can be defined to display 12 months.

    Hope this helps.
    Thanks.
