purchase already assembled BOM

Hi,

Is there a way to track multiple expiry dates in an already made BOM?

We purchase defibs which come already as a finished good and have 3 different expiry dates (defib, battery & pads), how do we track all 3 dates within Business Central?

As we purchase this a finished good, it gets receipted into stock as a standard item, we do not do anything with it when received in.

If we set up item tracking codes for LOT & expiry tracking we can only track 1 expiry date because the system counts this as a single unit and not a BOM.

Thanks,
I have the same question (0)

Hi, you would have to either track these as separate items received or in many cases what I see and I recommend is to extend item tracking in Business Central so you have multiple expiration dates for this item. It would be a small development but what you could do is have a developer copy the setup for the Expiration date and then have three expiration dates for that item. When a user would receive that item you could then make each expiration date mandatory.

The only consideration would be if the different components could be swapped out. If they can then it does get a bit trickier to manage. If they don't then simply having additional tracking information is the easiest approach.
