Then I create a general journal / Sales order with amount £101, I expect that there is an error message for credit limit exceed, however, there is no such error.
Have you created this Pro forma confirmation? It should then trigger credit limit. Please also check the dates, especially taken the grace days mentioned.
Have you set the Credit limit type to something other than None? Otherwise only the Mandatory credit limit on the customer will be considered, but not when using the credit limit via customer groups.
Also, I think the check against the balance will be done when you post it, but not when you enter it. Similar holds for sales orders, however, you can define if the credit limit check should be done when the proforma is done or when posting the credit limit. There is also a button on the Sales order, as far as I know, to check manually the credit limit with the current input of sales lines.
